2. Description of the Related Art
Recently, with the development of inkjet printers for applying ink onto various types of media, inkjet printers have also been incorporated as output devices, such as laser beam printers, facsimile machines, and copying machines, for recording text, figures, and images on general-purpose paper, plastic films, and metal sheets, such as print paper, heat-sensitive paper, and films.
Such an inkjet recording apparatus is equipped with a maintenance apparatus that provides the recording surface thereof with a predetermined ink absorbing layer to remove excessive ink or dust attached to the recording surface.
For instance, Japanese Patent Application Publication Nos. 2006-237523 and 11-311699 propose maintenance apparatuses that prepare an ink absorbing layer on a roller-like base material, and can be used in various printers, such as wire dot printers, thermal printers, heat-sensitive printers, and inkjet printers.
However, because the leading end of a coating tape for forming an ink absorbing layer is pulled by a user to be wound around the roll main body at regular or irregular intervals, the ink absorbing layer with a coating tape may peel off from the roll main body during use.
When such a problem occurs, ink of one or more colors used in an inkjet recording apparatus may remain on the recording surface of a recording sheet, or a maintenance failure may be caused.
To solve this problem, for instance, Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2006-237523 describes a configuration in which a yarn threading part is provided at the leading end of a coating tape for forming an ink absorbing layer, and the coating tape is wound around a roll main body by the aid of the yarn threading part. This eliminates the need to pull the coating tape during use, such that the coating tape is unlikely to peel off from the roll main body.
Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 11-311699 describes a configuration in which a coating tape for forming an ink absorbing layer is wound around the outer circumferential surface of a roll main body by the aid of a tape winding member, such that the coating tape is unlikely to peel off from the roll main body.Developers started to
