Not being a Photoshop user, however, I have to caution that these are just minor improvements. Users will notice that most hidden menu items have moved. The menu system is still very streamlined. Help may be useful, but there’s nothing else that can help you learn the program. However, the Retouch setting, which now includes leopard print retouching and even the ability to add a grid, helps. There is also a beta feature called Edit Paint, which enables you to perform painting effects using object layers. Like hermetic editors, Photoshop users can create their own masks (from photos, paper, or a selection of existing images). The program’s ability to create vector masks was already impressive, so I’m looking forward to seeing how this new feature will perform.

It’s tough to say. There were a lot less Youtube videos featuring “top shooters” or advertisers encouraging people to “level-up” or upgrade to the new Creative Cloud. If there was, I would have been happy to see it. But, the bulk of the marketing may have been directed at professional photographers, and that’s tough (for me) to get behind. Like many other creatives, I am not a subscriber myself, and it’s been a problem. For what it’s worth, I did see a sub-Reddit comment stating that everything was “calibrated” above the standard Creative Cloud royalty system. This wasn’t a complaint on the part of the commenter—they accepted it as the new normal. However, the messaging may not have reached enough people for the Creative Cloud to reach, at least in a “one more sale” sort of way. I’ll be interested to see if the company releases the data to which they may or may not be comparing the royalties.

iOS users have been enjoying the option of manipulating live video on their iPhones and iPads for a while now. But if you happen to have an Android phone or tablet, the option of watching a video some more and editing it is a whole lot different.

A new support page called “HIG Explanation and Requirements” was recently opened for developers. The document covers a lot of topics like automation and accessibility, and it should provide developers with more of a comprehensive reference.
