The Daylight Recent feature in Photoshop has been replaced by using the Content Aware Fill feature in Photoshop CC. Hence, I don’t think it matters whether you use the Adobe CC Individual license or the Adobe Creative Cloud Individual Photoshop subscription. That said, the latter is probably intended for the enterprise in a large organization. And $60 per month or $740 per year is a lot to pay for yet another program that has similar functionality to another program out there that you’re already paying for.

That said, the Content Aware Fill functionality is a very welcome update. It’s much better than the “Color” or “Relativity” fill features. It’s not as good as the open-source program Gimp, but it inks in a sufficient number of colors to be very useful. PC Mag’s Editor-in-Chief Trish Roach notes that it works best when your object is on a light color background. That said, if you can identify the object, color ranges can also suffice. I have had some success with it when it’s useful such as when you have a photograph of, for example, reference work that should be rendered by the printer. So the competition that Adobe is having with Photoshop is worthy in my opinion, and is something that, coupled with the CC individual license, I’m happy to be a part of.

Speaking of competition, Adobe will continue to have partial control of the graphical content creation market. Adobe’s CC subscription was the primary driver of Lightroom’s growth and becomes the primary driver of Photoshop’s growth, too. But newcomers such as Pixelmator, Photoshop competitor Corel Paint Shop Pro X, and Affinity Photo include a free version that can do most everything that Photoshop can, while each company includes numerous other tools for other professional uses.
