Programmatically Change Navigation Style of a Tab Bar Controller

I am trying to create a Tab Bar with a UISegmentedControl in the navigation bar. My app follows the approach of “Create Tab bar control and add tabs to it programmatically” from Apple’s iPhone App Programming Guide. I’ve gotten the Tab Bar to display using the methods described in that tutorial. However, when I try to add the UISegmentedControl to the Navigation Bar the navigation style changes to a left-to-right Style. I’ve tried creating the UISegmentedControl in a UINavigationController, and I’ve tried setting it’s navigation style to “None” in the UINavigationController’s parent UINavigationBar. I’m still getting a left-to-right Style.

For the record, I ended up solving this by using UISegmentedControl’s initWithFrame:title:image: rather than UISegmentedControl’s initWithTitle: and initializing the control with an image. The image
