the main character is quincy, who is once invited to an expensive mansion for a fancy party. after agreeing, the protagonist sets off, but notices that there may be something wrong here, as the building itself is located in a secluded area and has a suspicious appearance. quincy soon realizes that there is an unusual bathroom, converted into a time machine, in which you can navigate and wash your hands at the same time. then the plot gets even more convoluted, where there is room for human deaths, time-saving, monsters, on par with lovecraftian ones with masses of tentacles. the girl protagonist herself is caught up in a terrible crime, having made a fatal mistake, which she must try to correct in the process. the gamer will have to hold dialogues with bizarre characters as you progress, trying to help your ward undo what she has done.

the story is narrated by the character, who takes on the role of quincy, as he recollects his past. what is interesting is that the game portrays the protagonist as a ‘flat’, static character, and there are even points in the game where the gamer is forced to take a side in a conflict between two characters, as they continue to explain their points of view. they often give the impression of being aware of what is happening, but at the same time, simply going along with their lies. he is an enigma and they talk about him, but the gamer is left wondering, who is this character that is being described to them?

but the story is best that way. if you find these kinds of games to be too boring, then this game isnt for you. imposing a narrative to the story is something that is far from being done in any other game. its a narrative-driven adventure game that is categorically out of its mind. dr. watts and dr. rosalene have peculiar jobs: they give people another chance to live their lives, all the way from the very beginning. but this isnt their story. probably. instead, its about quincy. let me tell you a story about him. one day, quincy was invited to a fancy parteh at a suspiciously secluded mansion. so, he accepted and went; because even though the mansion was suspicious and secluded, it was also fancy and had a parteh.

and, for a game so driven by its story, the setting is fascinating. gao has made something that feels so full of life. it’s a world that is interesting. even the characters seem interesting. for example, quincy’s best friend is a middle-aged dwarf, an overbearing doctor named dr. klytus, and a death-obsessed amnesiac, all of whom are fascinating in their own way. and then there’s quincy’s father, a man who lives through his work, and we get to see him work through his world. all of these people are so much more than the one-dimensional characters we’re used to in adventure games. impostor factory is not exactly alone in this, and i think its a testament to how well gao has translated his ideas into a visual medium, how much he has crafted this world to make us really feel what it is like to inhabit it.
expect some spoilers for impostor factory if you are not familiar with the series. gao provides full game walkthrough, hints, tips and tricks to help you finish the game. play the game the way you want to. if you are the type of person who plays a game and moves on to the next game once you finish it, you’ll probably like this game. this game has a very engaging story, and you can play it in any order you want.if you are the type of person who plays a game for a long time, you may find some difficulty in finishing this game, and that’s ok. this game will give you the opportunity to experience the character development of two characters, and i’m certain you will enjoy it. if you are the type of person who likes to play a game until you are satisfied, then you’ll be happy to know that this game is the one to play. if you are the type of person who likes to explore new games and find something new to enjoy, then you’ll love this game. and lastly, if you are the type of person who likes to try out a game before you buy it, you’ll love this game. i hope you will enjoy it. or at least, i hope you will find it interesting.
