I’ve been offering minor complaints about Photoshop ever since the first versions. This time I decided to be more serious, so I’m writing my first review with lightning-quick speed. I’ve always believed that this review will not be very useful to readers, who are more than happy with their own reviews , and therefore it will be short and to the point. I do hope that you enjoy my first Photoshop review though, and I wish I could improve it in the future. Maybe I can write the next major review in a couple of months.

I’ve always tried to be reasonably objective in my reviews, so I’m not going to apologize for this. Adobe advertises Lightroom 4 as the “New Photoshop” and I have no doubt that they mean it in the right sense. Some of the advanced features are sometimes hidden behind an incomprehensible system of menus that are not necessarily intuitive and let you down easily.

Here’s the problem. I came into Lightroom 4 this morning with a wide range of images that I wanted to process withing just a few hours. There are a lot of amazing tools that you can use to quickly do some amazing things for your images – but not all of them, frankly, are always available. In fact, this is the first time since Lightroom 3 that I’ve found a situation where a feature is deliberately hidden.
