In its first 18 months of life, AutoCAD was supplied with extensive training material and a range of courses. After its initial release, the application’s core functionality and most of its user interface were rewritten. After this reworking, the program became so successful that it formed a new industry category: cross-platform desktop CAD. In the early 1980s, AutoCAD was not the only cross-platform CAD program available. The most popular was AutoCAD-compatible software such as MasterCAD. Autodesk, who acquired the MasterCAD team in 1984, wanted to make AutoCAD the first CAD software which was available on all platforms, for all users.

In order to increase its market share and challenge the incumbent, the AutoCAD team created a cross-platform version of AutoCAD for microcomputers (including PCs) as an alternative to existing versions for mainframes, minicomputers, and the Macintosh platform. The Windows version was released in 1985. The initial launch was accompanied by a marketing campaign in which engineers and architects were promised that it would be “the most powerful desktop CAD system ever.” It was neither powerful, nor did it have a desktop. AutoCAD was the first CAD application to work on the PC desktop.

In January 1987, Autodesk released AutoCAD LT, the first implementation of AutoCAD using a graphical user interface (GUI). In 1989, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD R14, the first major release of AutoCAD.

On October 4, 1991, Autodesk changed its name to Autodesk, Inc. and released AutoCAD versions 99, 99/2, 2000, and AutoCAD Design Review. They were followed by AutoCAD 2000 – Release 2 (AutoCAD 99/2) and AutoCAD 2000 (AutoCAD 2000), the last version of AutoCAD.

Before the software reached the year 2000, Autodesk was looking for a successor to AutoCAD. In 1997, Autodesk released AutoCAD 2002. “I have told patients that when they are done with all their radiation and chemotherapy, they should get the cellular therapy,” says Dr. June Howard, medical director of the University of Nebraska Cancer Center in Omaha. “It’s the one area where the current standard therapy is not good enough.”

There has also been a breakthrough in the development of antibodies that target specific proteins on the surface of tumor cells. For example, an antibody against CD20 can block the growth of blood cells with a mutated form of the gene. The drug causes minimal side effects and can eliminate more than 90 percent of blood cells that are leukemic, with the side effects limited to the usual bone marrow suppression.

Such drugs are now used to treat other cancers such as hairy cell leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, acute lymphocytic leukemia and multiple myeloma.
