this subclass is quite powerful if you manage to get your gm to create a situation where your illusion cant be countered. for instance, if you cast a weaker illusion and a creature that cant be countered, then by the rules of your gm you get a valid reaction. this effectively makes a spell that is usually 1st-level into a 2nd-level effect. essentially, what you get is a spell that can do everything a 2nd-level spell can do and more. and you get a free reaction to counter it!

this subclass gives you some very interesting rules. you can create illusions that look and feel like they are real. it is hard to create creatures that are similar to animals. but you can create a stone statue that looks like a spider.

you’d probably be better off with this spell against an illusionist. the flexibility of an illusionist is huge, and you can never be sure what they are going to try. in that case, you’ll want to wait for them to cast something, and then counter it as soon as it comes out. having a spell that allows you to choose when and how you respond to each effect you see is huge.

this is the most flexible illusion spell available. you could use it in a similar way to the above card, waiting until a spell comes out, and then countering it. or, you could use it to answer your opponent’s every spell with a different effect. and if the spell you counter is an illusion spell, you could try to find another illusion spell of the same or a different school to counter.
