the next morning, daxter wakes up to find that tik is gone and that some of the cargo has been stolen. daxter searches for the missing cargo and finds a note from the thief and a whole bunch of missing boxes. he finds a clue about a place called old man’s hideout and realizes that the thief is most likely sire (an old enemy from the first jak and daxter game). after finding the cargo, daxter gets a call from the krimzon guard and is told to meet him at the baron’s palace, where tik is waiting. a soldier then tells daxter about the unsolved murders.

at the baron’s palace, daxter meets the krimzon guard’s leader, koval. he mentions that someone is responsible for the missing cargo and that daxter is the one they want. koval asks daxter to go to old man’s hideout and investigate. after meeting with the hideout owner, jis, daxter learns that sire is stealing eco cargoes and promises to keep it a secret. jis then tells daxter about the “tiny boss” inhabiting the mountain. if daxter manages to get the tiny boss, then he can find out where sire is.

after exploring the small mountain area, daxter finds the tiny boss and defeats it. he then goes to the nearby mountain. there, he finds a city, which is ruled by a large boss. after a long fight, the tiny boss is revealed to be sire, who is now trapped inside a crate. daxter goes to the city and finds out that sire was imprisoned there by koval. koval then tells daxter that he is going to kill him. fortunately, daxter and sire escape, and the battle with koval begins. during the fight, a soldier finds daxter and informs him that he can’t kill koval. daxter then explains that koval is krimzon guard, and that the villagers will defend him.

for me, ps3 exclusives can be a bad thing. i get so excited when a game is exclusive to the ps3, thinking it’s great, but then i find out that it’s just another game for the 360 or pc or even a ps2 game. it’s not like it’s the only game of its kind, it’s just another game that’s exclusive to the ps3.

the story of daxter has a darker tone than the precursor legacy but a softer tone than jak ii. after almost two years since the duo arrived in haven city and jak was arrested by the krimzon guard, daxter accepts a job from the kridder ridder extermination company. working for its owner, osmo, daxter fights the infestation of metal bugs in the city, while also attempting to conclude his two year search for jak.
daxter features simplified gameplay elements present throughout the series, featuring a mix of platforming, action and driving. daxter can use the electric bug swatter for melee combat and the spray gun with three modifications for close range combat, both of which can also be helpful for traversing large areas. he can also drive vehicles such as betsy, the service zoomer, the ranger zoomer and the scooter, which are used to combat metal bugs and traverse haven city respectively.
