Finding the Help system
Creating images can be a daunting prospect if you have no help. One of the great benefits of using Adobe Photoshop is the live help and training it provides. For example, you can start off with the “Getting Started with Photoshop” tutorial and get your feet wet. The Help system allows you to access manuals and tutorials in the program.
You can access the Help system from the Help menu (Windows) or the Help menu (Mac) or by pressing F1. The Help system contains a comprehensive collection of manuals for the program, as well as tutorials, a cheatsheet (a list of common image adjustments), and a topic index.
If you can’t remember where you put something, the Search feature in the Help system will quickly find it. You don’t even have to know exactly what it’s called, just type it in.
The Search feature is also very useful in a group-work setting, enabling multiple people to search for the same item at the same time.
By default, the help information is stored in the user’s Documents folder. The help files can be moved to other locations by using the Preferences dialog box. For example, you can create a folder and then choose Save As to display the dialog box. Choose that folder as your destination and then click Save. You can also specify other file locations, such as the Photoshop Library folder, in the User Folder section of the dialog box.
If the feature-by-feature help doesn’t help you — and it likely will not — then use the online help.

Adobe Photoshop Express is the simplest way to edit and share photos and videos. It has all the features of Adobe Photoshop as well as photo editing apps like Facebook and Instagram. It is a great photo editing tool with most of the functionality of Photoshop.
Adobe Photoshop Express is a free photo editing and sharing app for Windows. It has access to Photoshop’s content library and offers most of Photoshop’s features.

A retinal implant has been put to the first human tests in the US in the hope that it will restore some sight to patients blinded by early-onset macular degeneration.
If it succeeds, it could be the first retinal implant to treat a condition where there is no cure and the most common cause of blindness in the western world.
The Swedish company, Second Sight, is testing its Argus II implant, which is about the size of a thumbnail and attached to the retina through a surgery that is eight times less traumatic than previous implants.
The device requires a daily battery-powered external camera to enable the patient to see, and it transmits to the brain images of the outside world via an optic nerve.
If all goes to plan, the patient will watch as objects move across a computer screen and a sub-retinal electrode will convert images into electrical signals, activating a small camera on the implant.
“This is the first time you see a person [with this treatment],” said Jens Mickle, a leading expert on retinal implants at the University of California San Francisco.
“The patient does not even know that he or she is wearing an implant. But things do happen. As in any trial, there are side effects,” he said.
The implant has already been approved for use in Europe and the device is now being tested in the US.
Second Sight hopes that the results will bring hope to thousands of people who are blind due to early-onset macular degeneration.
This eye disease, usually affecting people in their 50s, is the leading cause of blindness in the US, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
People with macular degeneration have problems seeing because they lose the central vision in one eye and after a few years of progressive loss, they are unable to see at all in their left eye.
The Argus II implant has been tested on 16 people. Half were followed for six months and the other half for 12.
During the trials, subjects had to undergo 10 operations. Before the surgery, the implant was given a trial run by looking at black-and-white images on a computer screen.
The patients could either control the implant with eye movements to move the screen around or with a joystick, allowing them to look where they wanted to see.

Governments must work to create a more welcoming environment for migrants. Admittedly, the question of migration is a complex issue. It defies simple answers. However, there are some points that all citizens of any country can accept as self-evident.
Human migration is a global phenomenon that is in the interests of all.
The rich states must work more actively to help poorer neighbours.
The wellbeing of migrants must always be of primary concern.
Governments must work to create a more welcoming environment for migrants. Otherwise, they risk worsening the social, economic and political strains that leave many migrants deprived of access to basic services – and vulnerable to criminality.

FRANCE 24: John, welcome. How would you answer those who argue that migrants are a burden on countries of origin and destination?
JOHN OFORI-DARKWA: We should not live in the past, in the narrow, reductive sense of the term. The fact is that many migrants leave their home countries to escape poverty, violence, insecurity and to find better living standards.
However, this does not justify the formulation of “migration policy”, which assumes that migrants are an abstract concept or a uniform group of people.
Migrants are individuals, with their own back-stories and reasons for leaving their home countries.
What we should do is start looking at migration as a phenomenon and at migrants as individuals.
FRANCE 24: And do you agree that the migration policy of rich countries is not always conducive to the welfare of migrants?
JOHN OFORI-DARKWA: Absolutely. The crisis in North African countries has seen the conditions in which migrants are forced to live worsen significantly. And that’
