The Basics of Photoshop
Photoshop is a professional image editing application that has many different tools and modes. The simplest way to use Photoshop is to click around and look for what you need.
Here are a few basics that you might like to know about.
Open a Photoshop File
You need to first open a Photoshop file that you want to manipulate. Photoshop opens in the Windows default program called Photoshop.
Open a Photoshop File From an External Drive
When you save a Photoshop document from another software such as Microsoft Word you will need to save the file with the extension.psd and then open it in Photoshop.
The File Window
The File window is the first window you see when you open Photoshop. This window has a number of tabs along the top, including the Layers, Files, History, and Miscellaneous tabs.
At the top right is the Zoom and Pan options and this provides the tools needed to zoom and pan the image.
Work on a Layer
Before you start working on the image, you should get familiar with the Layers.
Layers are used for organizing the different parts of an image. For example, if you are working on a landscape and you want to use the sky as the background, you would create a new layer for that part of the image.
Light (Basic) Options
The Light option gives you an overview of the information you need to use in Photoshop and in the final image.
When you use a new preset, it will create the following information:
Type: which type of image you are creating (you can change this to a different preset)

which colors will be used Size: the width, height, and size of the image
the width, height, and size of the image Resolution: the number of pixels the image uses
the number of pixels the image uses File Type: whether you’re creating a TIFF, JPEG, GIF, or PDF file. You can change this to Create PDF from Image.
You can change this to Color from Blur and Color from Drop Shadows also to useful.
Blur and Drop Shadows use the Light settings.

What is Photoshop Elements?
Adobe Photoshop Elements is the successor to Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, which was released in 2007. It is a graphics editor for photographers, image editors and hobbyists. It contains most of the features of the professional version but with fewer features and a simpler user interface.
Since the price of the software is cheap you can do a lot in it while saving money.
The software contains the basic editing tools for general use such as crop, resize, red eye removal and minor corrections.
There are many advanced photo editing features such as exposure correction, color correction, creative tools, special effects and filters. You can easily remove or add objects to an image or rotate it.
The image editing tasks are easy to do and the software also contains a photo retouching tool that helps you to retouch photos to look more natural. You can add background blur, crop out objects, apply a border, add a new face, flip the image and apply mirror effects.
The software can be installed on a laptop, desktop or tablet. The software allows you to easily edit and retouch many pictures. It can be used by both amateur and professional photographers.

Who Will Volunteer? Not Who Will Appear On A Diversity Online Training
When it comes to a top-down initiative that looks at increasing the representation of non-traditional members of our industry, I’d love to see experts within our larger industry respond to the growing demand that they make themselves available to teach online programs, while maintaining their self-identified roles.
Unfortunately, to date, we’ve only seen a handful of well-known luminaries respond to the call, and that’s troubling. Our industry has been able to effect positive change because of the efforts of high-profile individuals. Whether it’s one or two of these individuals, they have become the industry’s teaching heroes – an example that informs how the rest of us look at diversity and inclusion.
What’s the point of doing something differently when we’ve had the same cadre of leaders championing diversity and inclusion? To be honest, we’ve made great progress because of those educators who offered to share their extensive knowledge with everyone.
Where do we go from here?
While certainly not all or even the vast majority of our industry’s luminaries will step up, we have an obligation to the industry and our continued success to create an environment that leads to positive change. So, before another couple of women and African-Americans jump into the fray, I’m going to ask: Who will volunteer?
Let’s remember that, if we are committed to change, someone had to be the first in the industry to step up and do something. And while one visionary did step up, I believe that we need more than one to take this on. So, if you’re ready to do something, please step forward. You do not have to be a high-profile individual in order to make a difference in our industry.
If you’re in the space that I write about on a regular basis, particularly in regards to diversity and inclusion, I would love to hear from you if you’re willing to step up and mentor individuals who are interested in learning more, as well as help mentor others. I’m interested in hearing what you’re willing to do.

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to fly one of those new-fangled environmentally friendly long-haul planes? Well now you can live that fantasy — just don’t ask how you got a ticket.
An Associated Press investigation has found that private charter companies and airlines that dominate the long-distance air travel business are flagrantly using loopholes and half-truths to deny passengers the right to know exactly how much carbon dioxide their trips create.
Though the practice may seem somewhat harmless, leaving travelers unaware of the damage their frequent flier miles are doing to the planet has significant implications for how the airlines will compete with cleaner airlines and others, such as aircraft manufacturers, that are working toward a near-zero carbon footprint.
“Imagine that you are trying to get to the airport. You can’t know, and you can’t find out,” said James P. Durkan, professor of political science and public administration at the University of Denver. “It’s a bit like having a debt you don’t know you have, and you can’t pay.”
Durkan and his colleagues analyzed more than 2,000 so-called environmental statements on the websites of more than two dozen major charter and airline companies. The researchers then looked at similar statements from American and Delta Airlines, which were the two largest charter companies and two of the most frequent long-distance fliers.
The most glaring difference between the airlines’ and charter companies’ environmental disclosures was how the airlines stated their operational emissions. Most described their emissions in a direct manner, such as “fuel consumption” or “ton miles” or “avg lb. of CO2/flight mile,” according to the AP’s analysis.
Charter companies instead used a far more opaque form of language that did not spell out exact amounts.
Instead, they said things like “operational operations” or “kerosene/fuel usage” or “avg CO2/flight mile,” which made it impossible to calculate the exact amount of carbon dioxide produced by the flights, according to the AP.
Experts told the AP that the use of such legalese was far from a coincidence.
“This has a lot to do with strategy and we cannot blame the charter companies for doing this,” said Peter Phinney,
