No matter how well someone plans a photo, if he can’t adjust the colors to look great, it’s not going to be a good shot. Photographers use Color Profiles to correct colors in photos. Originally Adobe had a Color Picker in Photoshop, but that was incredibly cumbersome and clunky. Adobe made that earlier version one of their Lightroom templates . Now, Color transforms are integrated into Lightroom 5. This shot below is of the same subject shown on the opposite page.

Today, just like Lightroom 5, you simply click the Color Picker icon by the subject, select the variety of colors you want to see, and adjust them. This is so that I can control the few above or below the mid tones, but not the mid tones themselves. I also pulled the image into Photoshop, where I had the Hue/Saturation dialog box open. We can give the eyes additional color through the Hue/Saturation dialog box; I can also adjust the Color Temperature slider.

This is the effect. I made a duplicate Layer on the top and used an adjustmentlayer to change the Highlights slider to -100%. Since this will affect red, Magenta, and Orange, it will not affect rest of the image.

Note: the effect we get from our photograph can also be achieved with a gradient or filter. The above picture demonstrates another adjustment method for Hue/Saturation. An adjustment layer is used which alters the color of the subject in Hue/Saturation. The advantage of this adjustment method (left), however, is that the position of the adjustment slider can be moved around the image.
