I’m a freelance writer and photographer with a deep passion for art. I also am a Creative Cloud subscriber, so I’m always overjoyed when I hear about new features. I’ve been working with the software for many years, so I’ve seen many features evolve. I’m generally quite conservative when it comes to upgrades, and I stick with the software updates that happen regularly. I have “something” for all sorts of use, from rendering to design elements. It’s a great program to have. The new features are a good complement, and I look forward to using them.
Sequence to HDR in Photoshop is undoubtedly the best software feature I’ve seen in a long time. And even if it’s still a bit buggy, it’s the best post-processing workflow for HDR. Released just a few months ago, it blew previous attempts out of the water. A lot of people love Adobe’s DNG standard. The truth is that although it’s not a bad image format, it’s not the best. My preference is for the raw format. I admit, I don’t really know what you can do in photoshop to get a raw file to look like a DNG file (maybe generate with plugin that does that?), but I prefer to shoot raw and use raw to process images. It’s a bit simpler, and especially if you use Lightroom it makes things much easier. For what it’s worth, you can also work with a DNG file through Photoshop. Of course you can do a lot in your raw file. You can have custom white points, adjust gamma, do curves or levels or curves, and many more. The workflow I like using the most is still the one I started with, exporting raw with Photoshop, opening the first photo in DNG Profile Editor in ACR and doing a lot of adjustments in ACR and then saving it to a folder as a workflow with layers. After that it’s as simple as importing the image into Photoshop. I still have a lot of work to do in making it 100% user friendly, but it’s already a good workflow. So I still think that achieving a workflow similar to ACR using Photoshop might take a bit more work. But for just getting the raw files from a DSLR, converted and ready to use in Photoshop, using Photoshop Sequence to HDR is the best. I think it’s a big step forward.

It is the best choice for you if you need more editing power. After one year, if you have not upgraded to the 2nd level, your membership will automatically renew at the current price. You can also upgrade individual features of the software from time to time.
