It was built on the Autodesk ADE platform, and could be used to build its own feature-based CAD applications, as well as work alongside Autodesk’s own architectural, mechanical, and electrical CAD packages.

In 1996, Autodesk acquired project Archive. The Autodesk Visual LISP coding environment was retired and all future development would be done in C++. The software became part of the AutoCAD family.
