General information
The first AutoCAD was programmed in the early 1980s by John Warnock, Roger Gregory, and Gary Kildall, who later founded Digital Research. Autodesk bought Digital Research in 1994 and bought the rights to use its name in 1997. The first release of AutoCAD was in December 1982. Originally named MicroStation, it was renamed AutoCAD after the trademark was purchased by Autodesk. AutoCAD for Windows (1996) was the first release for Microsoft Windows.

AutoCAD is the premier commercial CAD system for computer-aided drafting and design. The first version was released in 1982 by Autodesk; the most recent version is AutoCAD 2017 (released in June 2017). In 2017, AutoCAD is the second most commonly used and the most profitable commercially available CAD program after AutoCAD LT (also produced by Autodesk), which is priced about one third of AutoCAD.
AutoCAD has several unique features such as ribbons, points, marks, and dimensions, and it is one of the few commercial CAD programs that has never needed a patch. Autodesk also publishes student and student-access versions of AutoCAD.

This version of AutoCAD is the latest, and most powerful version available for Windows; the new features are based on the 2012 Release Candidate 3 (RC3). AutoCAD has a community of more than 4,000 registered users and more than 100,000 downloads each day. AutoCAD 2019
AutoCAD 2019 is a cloud-based version of AutoCAD that is intended to run on any device. It contains all of the 2019 features and new CAD apps. AutoCAD 2019 is a web browser application and is available through a web browser on all platforms. It is not a standalone app. It is available through the Autodesk Mobile app store or with an active license.
The first year of AutoCAD was launched in 1989 with the release of AutoCAD-Part 2. AutoCAD-Part 2 also included a visual language, now known as Visual LISP, as well as DirectShape. AutoCAD-Part 2 was also released as a DOS application, as well as on the Macintosh, but not Windows. In the early 1990s, AutoCAD 3.0 was released with a new file format and a new graphics language. AutoCAD 3.0 had a lot of changes in the features, rendering, and many other aspects.
AutoCAD 2006 (2007) was the first major release of AutoCAD to support 32-bit operating systems.
AutoCAD 2009 released in April 2009. AutoCAD 2009 is based on Windows Vista. The AutoCAD 2009 release also contains the “Solution Framework” technology and “Intergraph Technology” that are now deployed in other applications in Autodesk.
AutoCAD 2011 for Windows and Mac (AutoCAD LT 2011 for Windows and Mac) was released in June 2011. It had a new platform based on the.NET Framework 4.0.
AutoCAD 2011 for Windows (AutoCAD LT 2011 for Windows) was released in June 2011 and AutoCAD LT 2011 for Windows is a “fully-featured real-time drawing and BIM application, designed to meet the needs of architects, engineers, contractors, surveyors, and other designers.”
AutoCAD 2013 is based on Windows 7. AutoCAD 2013 had a new platform based on.NET 4.0.
AutoCAD 2015 was based on Windows 8. AutoCAD 2015 supports Windows XP and Windows Vista.
AutoCAD 2017 was based on Windows 10. AutoCAD 2017 supports Windows 7 and Windows 8.
