By manipulating the design, the designer can alter the structure or create a new, often more precise design.

Object Manipulation

Any manipulation of the drawing (using CAD tools) is achieved by dragging and dropping, moving, and scaling the objects in the drawing. The following image shows the drawing area and a few selected objects in the drawing. The drawing area is typically a rectangle or an open space into which objects can be added.

Patterns for navigation arrows – singly or doubly?

I’m designing a main navigation bar and part of it is a section of drop-down arrows.
I’m wondering about which of the two approaches is preferable, given the following factors:

First, having a single arrow means a consistent design and style that is clean and pretty.

Second, having two arrows means a consistent design and style that is clean and pretty.

Third, I’d like a consistent design across all of my pages – at the moment I’m adding the same set of two arrows to each page, which doesn’t look quite right.

I’m using Bootstrap 3 (I think this may make a difference to the answer, but I’m not positive).

I would normally follow the principle of minimalism and go for a single arrow only.
I feel that a single item of content should look like a unique thing, not something which is just a combination of two different things.
However, this may not be practical, if you have a large amount of content in the navigation. So then I would consider something like this:

However, I don’t like the look of this very much. The line of the arrow should never cross over the arrowhead, as this breaks the arrow, and makes it look like a question mark.
The other thing that can happen is that you have two things with the same amount of width and the same colour, and you make the arrow wider, just to balance the space out. This is not good design, and in my opinion, should never be done.
Therefore, if I was designing this, I would go for a single arrow, and perhaps a different colour from the main item.
