BAPCo MobileMark 2005 Free Download

This new test basically takes the same test as the older MobileMark 2004 test, but it’s run from an iPod Touch. Apple has clearly put a lot of thought into this port and should mean that the full MobileMark 2005 test can be run from a common handheld gaming device. The iPod Touch is the first gadget to get the MobileMark 2005 benchmark. Hopefully, it’s not the last. This is a major step forward for Apple and we have high hopes that they release Windows based iPods soon.

The latest version of the Mobile Mark benchmark test is available to download from Apple’s website. It has the same graphical design as the earlier MobileMark 2004 test, but this version was developed from scratch using and iPod Touch. The new test is meant to be a more practical and handheld version of the earlier MobileMark 2004 test.

MobileMark 2005 offers extensive tests of system performance, power management, battery life and other features, all focused on mobile device use. For the first time, MobileMark 2005 will also provide a test of 3D performance using content from the OpenGL ES 2.0 extension set, a technology that Apple’s upcoming iPhone will use to build its gaming capabilities.

It would seem that Apple has high hopes for the iPod Touch with their latest release. They’ve posted up a new version of the Mobile Mark benchmark test that shows off the iPod Touch’s performance. The iPhone and iPod Touch are much more capable hardware platforms than the other mobile operating systems and this new test is a step forward towards the mobile world to come.
