They say that success is 80% (luck) and the remaining 20% is hard work. I might be wrong, however. for me it was 60% Luck and 40% Hard work. It was obviously work without the luck. To be successfull in business we must always put effort into our goals, but if there is no luck and you are not gifted we should not worry.
Lots of times people talk about luck. Luck is a hand full of cards that you win or lose, but luck is not a reward that you get when you are loseing and nothing is working in your favour. Its very clear to me, you can win and loose all the time. Its about the ‘what you do with the cards in hand’
I have been freelancing for the past year now, and in that time I have had mostly negative experiences with clients. Everything from lack of payment of invoices, do not pay what you said you will at all, change the agreed deadlines, not discussing issues, not keeping in contact.
It is very discouraging at times but I learn from each experience. I start the business in a positive way and thus avoid bad situations, however do not forget to set the expectations for the client in the beginning
Just because of the nature of my business and the amount of work that I need to do to service the clients I end up working 60+ hours a week with them.
Its not easy and in my mind, the hard work is to get those clients and not lose them over and over and over again.
In a world of uncertainty, where the budget of businesses is razor thin and the big fish eat the little fish, I will keep heading for the top and try my best to avoid getting eaten.
