An improved technique of separation of a Gaussian mixture signals of equal variance is developed. The objective is to separate the mixed noise from the Gaussian mixture signals. The technique of separation of the Gaussian mixture signals is developed and tested by using a simulated mixture of three Gaussian signals. The simulation results show that the separation error is less than 0.01 and the computational speed is much higher than other technologies. The technique is further tested using experimental signals captured from a field-effect transistor (FET) while in on state. The results show that the proposed technique can separate the mixed noise from the Gaussian mixture signals.

Digital signal processing (DSP) deals with the conversion of analog signals into digital signals and vice versa, and the sampling and quantization. DSP is generally a part of signal processing, and, as such, it is related to many areas such as audio, communication, imaging and/or signal and image processing. Recently, in the fields of imaging and medicine, a number of important clinical imaging modalities are based on DSP. These include magnetic resonance (MR), ultrasound (US), and photoacoustic (PA) imaging modalities. In such applications, DSP can be used to enhance image quality and reduce bandwidth. In this paper, we briefly review the computational efficiency and accuracy of various DSP algorithms currently available in the literature. Specifically, we focus on the core of a given algorithm, the linear phase filters and FIR filters. These will be discussed with regards to their computational complexity and optimal approximation accuracy.
