As opposed to the previous version of Lightroom that we had, this version of Lightroom does a great job of making the changes we’ve suggested. I used to rip to a Macbook Pro. Lightroom’s version of the Adobe raw converter didn’t work, either. I had already learned that Lightroom is only compatible with Canon’s RAW files.
I had developed some bad habits and didn’t get to rip my new Nikon D780 film to my laptop. I was starting to use Lightroom as an intermediate step between my laptop and my computer. A friend suggested that I download the Lightroom app for my Gate 5 Anabest iPad. It works perfectly as the interface for ripping Nikon D3 files.

I was recently acquired by a new company, my first project with them was to work on a unified web site with several existing sites. I liked Lightroom which is a good photo manager and a very good photo catalog program. I just bought Lightroom 6, migrated all of our files into it, and have been very pleased with the speed of Lightroom’s catalog import. I’m disappointed with one thing; the use of ASP.NET in a way that is very difficult for a web designer to make adjustments. Perhaps it is ASP.NET that is the cause they use and not Lighroom?
I like the idea of the use of the online web site as a tool for more creative control. I tried to create a web site with multiple albums and the word processors that are based on the Australian guildlines that require 2 trees per page. The CS4 program worked very poorly. So I tried writing a web site for a large company that also used the Australian guildlines. It took me about six weeks and an abundance of phone calls to get them to understand what I wanted that I was not able to do.
The company media relations contacted me to ask me to come and explain my approach to the web site – they did not understand. I spent a week with them working on the site. It is almost identical to what I did for the large media company and it took only half the time to be put together. I feel that I made a better site for the company when I was able to work in Photoshop for the style guide that I wanted to follow. I am doing the same thing for the new web site except it is more complex than this project. I have downloaded Lightroom and love it. I think that you just have to learn how to use it. I am finding that most of the things that I was doing in Photoshop Elements I wasn’t doing before. I was always ripping to my computer and then I would use Photoshop Elements to make my catalog and then I would have to figure out how to use Photoshop. I love the new setup of Lightroom. I find a good working workflow that I like. I think it is brilliant how I can have working relationships for almost everything that I want to do in Photoshop. The last thing to note is that I have the ability to view Photos in the Lightroom catalog from any website that is connected to my computer which is a lovely way to keep versions.
