However, from a marketing and branding perspective, I’ve noticed a constant thread throughout many announcements in the past few years, from Activision Blizzard and ESPN to EA and FIFA, that I find curious and just a bit off. I’m referring to the use of the term “player.” When calling a new game version of a franchise “player,” not all players are equal, and many are actually misused.
The 2013 FIFA “Player”
Throughout the years, FIFA has defined a few different factions of players on the pitch: goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, attackers and the sky. FIFA 13 featured some interesting new players on the pitch, mainly strikers, like Maxi Llorenti, or new defenders like the defender from the Uruguayan team Corinthians, Ezequiel Schelotto. However, a theme that has persisted is the repeat of naming defender Michael Carrick as a new FIFA “Player,” even though he has been awarded with Defender of the Year three times. Goalkeepers like Keylor Navas or Andre Onana with their countries, or Júnior Firpo, have also been included in FIFA’s “Players.”
A similar marketing blur was seen in ESPN The Magazine when unveiling the Michael Jordan cover of it’s August 2014 edition, which featured him and The Life Foundation. ESPN, without much explanation, called him a “player.” This is an important distinction, though, as The Life Foundation is an important organization with a clear mission. It offers care, support and education to children and adults with cerebral palsy, yet players like Mike have gone through the sport themselves and are involved in the community. They are basketball players, they are players, and they are recognized as such, but they are also much more than that. It is a major oversight to use The Life Foundation in such a way.

He’s already been called the next [insert name of favorite defender here], but this makes sense, as his star potential is rising at a rapid pace and he’s already been dubbed the next [insert name here]. MASCOT CARDS
Players have the opportunity to earn and unlock mascots. Players can unlock more mascots as they play and unlock new content through regular gameplay. There are 100 new mascots available.
CLUBS
Clubs and leagues for all football codes in the world are available to join through the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE. Over 30 Clubs are available.
NEW PREDICTION & RENDITION FEATURES
FIFA 22 brings a new “Prediction and Rendition” feature, which utilises FIFA’s real-world data to create detailed, accurate and realistic player movements. This technology uses computer vision to “see” the ball and then predicts players and creating detailed animations for every situation.

FUT Champions
FIFA Ultimate Team Champions is a new way to experience the thrill of FUT Champions with new features, systems, and content. FIFA Ultimate Team Champions will be available starting March 24 with a free update.
FIFA Mobile
FIFA Mobile will be available on iOS and Android March 24. Players on iOS can also link their account on the Apple TV app.
Virtual Real Football
With Virtual Real Football, FIFA will enable 2.4 million players to experience football like never before. Users will be able to learn and master the art of the game by making the right passes, dribbling, and shooting. Also, they can score goals like never before using FIFA V.R. Football.
MyClub
MyClub is a deep and engaging way for players to experience the game from a club management point
Players who were on the Beta may wish to try the game out, as the BETA is a bit buggy.
Patch Notes:
This version is less than half the size of the current version, so if you previously had to move your save to save it before being able to install the update you will want to do that.
