The gameplay itself is much more than its classic predecessor had to offer. The game has a revamped version of the 3D match engine. You can now create your own tactics and control specific players through your tactics. This is all done through the 3D Manager or 3D Dugout management feature. All of the previous basic team tactics remain and there is a slew of new tactics available as well. One of these tactics is the Scouting Goal tactic that will be able to tell you how many goals you need to get in your next game as you play.

This lets you modify your tactics to suit the situation. But, if you are a football manager then you will undoubtedly want to take full control of the team and start customising your team’s tactics. The 3D Manager is an incredibly useful feature that let’s you begin modifying your team’s tactics. You can also get an up-close view of the tactics by putting your mouse right up to a soccer ball. Naturally, you can change the positions of every single player on your team. This is done by simply selecting the player you want to be moved to and dragging them to the new position. There are no limitations in how many players you can have or how many positions you can assign. You can also assign certain aspects of the game like fullback, right-back, midfielder, left-back, striker, defender, centre back, centre midfielder and winger for example. You get the idea.

A killer feature of this game is the depth of tactical customization available to you. And it isn’t just the basic team tactics that are customizable. You can also tailor your coaching staff, scout staff, players, players’ attributes, strengths and weaknesses, and even communicate with players. You can assign players to specific areas on the pitch so that you can watch what each player does and keep them focused on one particular aspect of the game. You can even have specific players only play certain positions. Why not have your striker only score headers or have a midfielder only shoot with his right? Both of these are now viable options in Football Manager. You can also assign each player a rating from 1-to-10. The higher the number, the better that particular player is. You can also assign players to play specific roles within your team. This is done by assigning them to roles like the goalkeeper, left fullback, right fullback, right midfielder, left midfielder, left winger, defender, goalkeeper, striker, or the like.
