Six patients with a variety of disorders (anxiety, essential hypertension and depression) took theophylline and cimetidine over a period of 24 h under fasting and non-fasting conditions. Plasma samples were analysed using an isocratic HPLC technique with positive ion detection on a 5% phenyl-hexyl column. The drugs were extracted using ethyl acetate. Phenobarbital and carbamazepine were used as internal standards. For the two drugs that produce or inhibit cytochrome P450, metoprolol (3,5-dimetoxy-4-hydroxymethyl-2-furan carboxamide) was used as a probe drug. Under fasting conditions, cimetidine plasma levels remained constant over the 24 h period. Theophylline levels remained constant at low concentrations over the 24 h period. Under non-fasting conditions, theophylline levels increased, consistent with the known feedback mechanism that stimulates hepatic cytochrome P450 activity. With metoprolol as a probe drug, the ratio of peak area in plasma to that in urine increased from approximately unity under fasting conditions to between approximately 5 and 6.4 after theophylline intake. This result indicated that theophylline is a weak inhibitor of the metabolism of metoprolol. This was confirmed by analysis of urine. It was concluded that theophylline can be administered with cimetidine to patients without the risk of serious drug interactions.Q:
perl/FP-extract-stages-eval FP state
I am trying to write a script with perl that compiles and runs C code. The perl code performs the optimization and construction of a new C++ class that contains an embedded hash table. That class itself has a complex API of putting, getting, and deleting/changing values. I would like to have the ability to be able to verify all of the invariants before and after modifying the hash table values.
I have been able to generate the new class with perl and add a verification function at the end but I can’t get the verification code to execute. In C++, I would use the FP_EXTRACT_STAGES_EVAL pragma but I am unable to find a document or any information on how to implement this in perl
