Hey guys, I’m back with a new video, and this one is gonna be a little bit different. In a previous video, we took a look at the most fun/geeky devices in the gaming ecosystem. Well, we’ve got another video coming out where I’m taking a look at a platform that’s become part of people’s gaming lives because of the gaming industry’s shift to online platforms and free-to-play gaming models. Today we’re taking a look at Roblox, an online virtual world that’s free to play. It’s also one of the biggest platforms for kids under the age of thirteen.
It’s no secret that video games are a billion-dollar industry. Even as gaming becomes more of a multimedia experience, people are still going to want a way to connect to that experience. Today, that’s mostly done with consoles, PC, and portable gaming devices. But what happens when the next best gaming experience is already something you can log into every day on your computer or phone? That’s where Roblox comes in.
Roblox is an online virtual world. It’s free to join, and once you’re in, you can create your own game and play other people’s games. As the creator of a game, you can customize your game to be as detailed or rudimentary as you want. Not only that, but if you want to, you can even charge other people to play your game, which means you can earn money and build even more of an empire.
How Roblox Works:
Roblox has been around since 2003 and has been growing exponentially for the past couple of years. It’s a very simple platform with two main parts. For kids, it is the opportunity to create and play their own games. The second component of Roblox is the in-game experience. When a user plays a game, it’s really just a hyper-detailed, life-like replica of the virtual world that you’ve just entered.
The bottom layer of the Roblox ecosystem is a game development platform called Lua. It’s a simple and easy-to-learn language that allows developers to create incredibly detailed games. There are a variety of pre-made blocks that can be dragged and dropped together to build almost any experience that you can imagine. But the fun part comes in the programming. Lua is extremely fast, which means you can create a fairly complex game in just a few minutes.

The Dark Forest
This is the new Zone. The Dark Forest is the first area we got to see after the Lanayru Village, where we rescued Impa (voiced by Julie Nathanson) and Kafei(voiced by Paul Reubens) from being hunted by the Gerudo.
The Dark Forest is an enormous forest in which the majority of the game is played in. It is a eerie landscape, which is what you would expect from a dark and mysterious forest. The area is also covered in the mist, which accentuates the dark and gloomy feeling of the forest.
Dark Forest Background Music
As the new Legend of Zelda officially starts, Nintendo decided to make a rather dark background score for it. The dark forest is the first place to get a taste of this new ominous theme.

Lore
The Dark Forest doesn’t just have a gloomy and dark theme, the lore behind it is also very dark. They call this the the dark forest, but why is it so named and what is it’s history?
When you first enter the Dark Forest, you get the following quest dialogue:
“No! Why have you entered our forest? I suppose you don’t realize this, but time flows very differently in this place. A powerful force sweeps through this forest and it will bring ruin to everything that exists. That is why we have come to stop you!”
There are no “we” in this quest.
If you think about it, this is quite strange, as it does seem as if the Dark Forest is trying
