Additionally, the ethnic Pashtuns were mostly Muslim with a strong sense of nationalism, Punjabis were mostly Hindu, with a strong sense of nationalism, and the tribal Pathan ethnic groups were mostly Sunni Muslim, but some of them practised Sufism.
