the security agencies like cia, state department, fbi, were told by their higher ups, maybe by the president, that it was not important. what had been happening in china would change, for better or worse. the only concern of the us and all of the eu, nato, sadc, oas, none took interest. or it was because they were not thinking about anyone other than themselves.

this is the most fun movie in the entire jackie chan collection. essentially, its a martial arts comedy about a young chinese cop, chan wong fei hung, who returns to his hometown to solve a murder. he must also prove that he isnt a thief, so he goes undercover as a member of the criminal organization that committed the murder. the movie is actually quite entertaining, and heres a reason why. chan was in his late 30s by this point, and he wasn’t making any of these movies anymore, so he was in a bit of a rut. but here he is at the height of his powers. sure, the fights are cheesy, but who cares? the stunts are unbelievable and the comedy is hysterical, and you never notice that chan is getting old because he is so fast and graceful. go ahead, watch it. you wont be sorry. t. alexander smith
were you just thinking how much better rumble in the bronx would have been without the cheesy fight scenes? well, theres your answer. if youre anything like me, and you watch one jackie chan movie a day, or more, chances are youve seen this one. chances are, too, that when you first saw it, you didnt even know the difference. for that reason, its the best movie in the collection. its light, fast, silly and filled with awesome stunts. in fact, its probably even better than its 1986 sequel, heat in the kitchen, which is also included. the movie is essentially a remake of the drunken master, but the action is a bit slower and the plot is way less convoluted. chan plays a single-minded martial artist who trains to be a surgeon. he enlists the aid of a kung fu master (played by the great joe pesci) and faces off against the leader of a criminal organization. it was only in the original 1979 drunken master that chan was a surgeon, but you have to figure that making another movie where he was a doctor was a no-brainer. j.v.
