O2Jam X DancingParty Features Key:

• Splash Wars is a music-based puzzle game which revolves around learning to hear, and play, patterns in music.
• This is an exercise in how music sounds inversions, variations and permutations because of how they flow and are designed. It’s also a practice at pattern recognition because these inversions have recognizable sound shapes.
• Leapfrog is a maximalist collage project in which hir seams are built, in which hir brain assembles words, notes and rhythms from fragments that spazula. it is a highlight train game (like sufjan) for the contemporary.
• It is a meta game too: it deals with narrative and transforming forms/sounds as forms and things to interpret.
• The problem of the game is its completion arc which wanes over 2 hours’ playing and which is actualizing tool versus answer.

Musical Ida

• This is the life story of a neurotypical musically gifted kid who is introduced to the world of dyslexia. His journey has to navigate and reckon with dyslexia’s oppositional relationship to music.
• It’s designed as a download-free PDF of a screencast and as a personal run-out-the-clock demo of a digital interface.

D/Deaf Art

• These are a few pieces (below) made by me for a new and next step in my career as an artist-technologist. They’re inspired by the science of hearing, and musical vernacular, and forensic audio forensic to cope with severely low frequency trauma. Their goal is to be accessible to the vast majority of Deaf-blind people in this world.

Starman is a comic book character created by writer John Broome and artist Sergio Aragonés, first appearing in Superman #200 (March 1980). The character himself has been portrayed by several well-known actors over the decades, including Mark Hamill in the 1978 film of the same name, Patrick Cassidy in Son of Starman (1986), and Adrian Paul in the character’s first ongoing series.

Creation
In its earliest form, the Starman comic’s story was set seven years before Superman’s debut in Action Comics #1 (January 1938). He was created by writer John Broome and artist Sergio Aragonés. Concerned that a pulp magazine version of Superman had been published, Broome and Aragonés briefly wanted to create their own pulp version, so that by the time that Superman appeared, the Man of Steel was not tied to “the beak and claw of tabloid journalism”. Broome jokingly suggested the name Starman to Aragonés, and after Aragonés named his first character with that name, Broome became the name for his own star-spangled character.

Broome initially intended the new Starman to be a Nazi agent rather than an American. However, early in the process Aragonés who had designed the character in his Fourth World style insisted on fleshing out the backstory for the character. Comics historian Les Daniels traces the character’s roots to the pre-history of Earth’s superheroes, stating that
the first resource was Superman’s ancestor, the Kryptonian super-hero known as his “cousin”, the Star-Gazer. The original Star-Gazer was adopted by Americans through a Space Family Robinson-style process called “The Star-Gazer Project” conducted by scientists who wanted to create a member of the human race who would be capable of interstellar exploration. The project was a complete success, although the super-powered children of the project were not welcomed by their adopted families. A young Robby Reed was ostracized and eventually sent into space where he fell into an intergalactic accident with a spacecraft called The Silver Meteor. The explosion turned Reed into a starman, and he fell down to Earth – though he eventually returned to space and became the first popular Starman.

Aragonés later retconned this story a bit in The Starman. Starman’s intended backstory does, however, appear in The Starman #0 (January 1986) where Black Lightning was introduced as a kid in Brooklyn

Ghostdream is a mixture of point and click adventure game and retro style adventure game. On his journey to the “Other Side” Reader (and his “natural companion” Writer) meets various Ghosts and Demons, Holy Spirits and Gods. He also meets Singer, who is neither Ghost, nor Demon. At some point she becomes important to Reader. Realizing this won’t stop him though.
The world of Ghostdream should be scary, but it is not – it is just dark. The story should be sad since all the characters are more or less dead, but it is not, because they normally remember nothing, except some minor detail or two (for example the protagonist remembers himself reading a book – this is why they call him Reader. It is his only memory after all).
Ghostdream is a retro-style Point and Click Adventure game with puzzles, exploration and story.

This is our first game ever. It is a first try to tell a story through music and stop-motion animation. We tried to make it catchy, but it is not really a commercial sound. We are open to improvements and new concepts. So we are looking for feedback.

For the art book – how much of the art book can be featured on the game itself?

I’m not sure if the answer is “any”, but making the art book a PDF would allow people to copy and paste directly into the game, rather than having to print the whole thing.
