The first Obscure game was a great early game for Linux. Its a simple 3D horror game where you control 1 of 3 members of a family that must unlock doors in order to uncover an evil virus that is spreading through the house. The player can choose to play the game as the wife, husband or son. The other members of the family were male and sported the names Stan, Kenny, and Shannon.

The game play was pretty simple, with a 3D environment and a first person view. The game had multiple endings based on which path you followed, and it was very linear. Obscure: The Aftermath was pretty much the same but lacked the multiple ending aspect of the original.

The first Obscure PC game came out on CD-ROM with Windows 3.1 and all other games were released for Windows 3.1, then Windows 95. Ill be honest, this was the Linux Platforms golden age, with games like Doom, Quake, NetHack, X-Com and Grim Fandango hitting the scene. Unfortunately, the Linux gaming community was still small, and the Dark Forces/MUD scene was ruling the roost.

The characters are voiced by Katherine Braun and Brent Stambaugh, and the music was composed by Steve Winter. The game has dynamic lighting, and some times the game is dark, whereas at other times the game is bright. The graphics are similar to the graphics of Obscure The original. The game’s graphics are very good.

The school is rumored to be haunted. From the moment the last class of the day ends, everyone that has been there disappears. The only way to prove that the school is haunted is to investigate. You can explore the school, observe the dark hallways, and visit the many rooms. There are two rooms that are known for their animatronic robots in them. SCREENSHOT
