Reviewing features
Photoshop’s features enable you to make a wide variety of adjustments to an image. But the feature set is not made up of one set of tools; there are many different feature sets, each with different capabilities and looks. So the features you use vary depending on the job you’re doing with a particular photo. You can use most of the features to modify the look of a photo, but if you want to make the absolute most of Photoshop’s capabilities, you should learn how to use all the features. To see all the features, click Window⇒Workspace, and you can select the Photoshop options area from the Workspace column on the left side of the workspace.
After you have selected the Photoshop options area, you see a side-by-side list of the Photoshop options in the Window column; each feature is represented by a thumbnail of the feature’s setting. Click an icon to show the settings for that feature, or use the scroll bar to view all the features. Because of the size of the window, you can’t see all the settings for a feature, so you have to use the scroll bar. Figure
To be able to make full use of Photoshop Elements, the end-user will have to learn how to edit an image, create a new one or both.
Step-by-step tutorials are available to teach you both image editing and creating new images.

How to Edit Images with Photoshop Elements

Step 1: Select an Image
There are several ways to open an image. You can either drag an image into the interface or open an image via Import.
Selecting an image starts a series of actions for the user to choose, as shown in the image below.

To be able to select an image, the user needs to press [Option] + [A] to open the Select menu and select the [Image] option. The user will see the following options, depending on the way they have previously imported an image.
To adjust the brightness or contrast, the user needs to use the Layers panel.
Alternatively, the user can open the [Image] menu and select a different options from the image. The following screenshot shows the options available for adjusting a file:

Tip: Click the right arrow button to select the image.
On the left side of the interface, the user can highlight the image that will be used. To the left of the image, there will be a bar that looks like this:

If you need to view more information about the selected image, you can click on the right button next to the bar and go to the information that matches the image.

To add a new layer to the document, select the [Layer] menu and click on the [Add] option.

Last week I introduced some of our new wheel and tire colors and a few of the new features that will be rolling out on our newly-refreshed site. In case you missed the “Preview Night” and weren’t on Facebook, we had a pretty awesome turnout for our first soft-launch and — who would have thought — a pretty good turnout too.
Our friends at the New York Times have been keeping an eye on the site, of course, but what they told us was that despite our many upgrades, their page still loads a bit slower than their own. Well, I don’t know about you, but I think our site loads quite a bit faster than theirs. (And I’m not just saying that because I wrote the code.
If you have your own recommendation for making pages load faster, please share it in the comments.)
Anyway, you can expect a few more improvements in the coming days. In the meantime, I’ll leave you with a small refresher on what our site looks like and what to expect.
New Features
As stated last week, we’ve been busy updating our list of wheels and tires. And we’ve added two new categories to better categorize the offerings:

Our new list of wheels and tires have been given a visual refresh and include all of the colors that have been released to date, plus a handful of newly-added ones.
