What Is Photoshop?
Photoshop, Adobe’s flagship product is the workhorse of photo editing. While it is used by many for its intuitive interface and ease of use, many professionals still use other photo editing programs to achieve greater results.
However, you can put those tools to good use by uploading your image to Photoshop to create a custom backdrop, website or something more.
If you’re not sure whether it’s time to get started with Photoshop, it may not have what you need. That’s where we can help. We’ve dedicated this tutorial to walk you through the process of turning a photo into a stunning backdrop. We start with the tutorial itself and then demonstrate every step via the available video tutorial.
Adobe Photoshop Tutorial: Step-by-Step Guide on Turning a Photo into a Stylish Headline
Step 1: Create a New Photo
Assuming your image is already open, and that you have the right color space selected, you need to create a new document. You want to create a new document instead of a new layer because you can merge the layers later and add a final effect.
Once you have a new document ready, you can begin taking new images.
Step 2: Add a Background
Before you start editing the image, add a background using the following steps:
Open the file or file menu, click “New” and then “Background.”
Bring up the dialog box with white, black or some other color as the background color.
Select an image from your system. Because this tutorial uses a photo, the image will be automatically loaded.
Save the file to your computer.
Step 3: Make the Headline the Foreground
The headline will be a black-and-white version of the original photo.
To make the headline take the foreground color, select “White Color” and then “Fill.”
Then select “None” and “No Change.”
Step 4: Use Photoshop’s Align Tool
In the same document you created in the previous step, you can use the align tool to make sure the text is evenly on all sides.
In the top-right section of the document, click “Horizontal Align” or “Vertical Align.”
From there, you should see a horizontal or vertical guide that appears, allowing you to move the text and make sure it is evenly placed on all sides.
Downloading Photoshop Elements 16 is easy. Just follow the steps below.
1. Unzip the file
Download Adobe Photoshop Elements 16 by clicking the link below (choose your operating system).
After downloading, find out the location on your hard drive where you’ll want the program to be saved.
Double click the.zip file you just downloaded. It will unzip into a folder called PhotoshopElements16 on your computer.
For Mac: a folder called PhotoshopElements16 will be created under Applications.
For Windows: a folder called PhotoshopElements16 will be created under the Downloads folder.
2. Start Photoshop Elements 16
Double-click the PhotoshopElements16 folder. You should see a window with a new icon called PhotoshopElements16. This icon is located at the bottom left of the screen. Click on it to start up Photoshop Elements 16.
If an older version of Photoshop Elements is already installed, you’ll be prompted to open or install an older version. If you select to open an older version, you’ll be taken to the standard Photoshop Elements program interface. If you want to install Photoshop Elements 16 instead, just skip this step.
3. Open a Photoshop Elements 16 file
Photoshop Elements 16 is a graphics editor, just like other versions of Photoshop. If you have a standard graphics file, you’ll want to open it up in Photoshop Elements 16. To do this, just double-click the.psd (image) file you want to edit.
If you want to create a new image, click the “New” button. The editing screen will open up allowing you to select the file or photos you’d like to include in your new image. If you want to create a new document, click on the “File” menu and select “New.”
4. Select which Photoshop Elements feature you want to use
The first time you open an image, you’ll be shown a list of the available editing tools.
Select the tool that you want to use. Don’t worry too much about the order. Just have fun with it.
Press the green button for the tool you want to use. Photoshop Elements 16 will open that tool so you can edit your image.

How to use:
Click the Clone Stamp tool (light gray) and drag it to a destination on your image. In the Control Bar appear a number of tools. Click on the Burn tool for adding color, Gradient tool for adding gradient, and Adjust for changing brightness and contrast.
Using the Brush tool (black on white) with any color you can paint or scrape an area on your image. You can start with scratch paper to make a mockup to get a good idea of what you want. Then, with the mouse, click and drag onto your document to draw on your image.
The Eraser tool (gray) allows you to delete any area you don’t want on your image. You can click to erase any portion of the image, or use the Eraser Control Bar to erase pixels or remove shapes.

How to use:
Click on the Eraser tool (gray) to start erasing pixels. Click anywhere on the image and drag toward the top of the image to erase pixels in the left half of the image. Click on the bottom of the image and drag toward the left to erase pixels in the right half. Click and drag anywhere outside of the image to clear the entire image.
The Crop tool (blue) allows you to crop any part of your image. Click on the tool, click on the Crop icon in the toolbar, and drag the corners of the Crop window to reshape the image.
The Quick Selection Tool (green) lets you select a portion of an image with the click of a mouse. When you click on the image, the corners of the image turn green. Click anywhere in the image and then drag the green rectangles to select different areas of the image.
The Erase tool (orange) allows you to remove areas of a photo that you don’t want. Click on the tool, click on the area you want to delete, and click on the Eraser icon in the toolbar. The orange layer will appear in your layers panel and will disappear when you click outside of the area.
The Text tool (white) allows you to add text to your image. Click on the tool, type some text and press Enter. The text will appear in your image.

“I’m not a comic. I just support them,” he says, and then shoots off several questions. “Is a comic a musician? Or is a musician a comic?”
Then, he takes off.
