Depending on what you do with an iPad, it can be a fast, portable, and high-quality alternative to a laptop available on a thumb. If you choose to draw and paint, the Apple Pencil will make it easier than a mouse ever could.

Before you can start designing and creating your own art, you’ll need to learn a bit about the way the world looks and behaves on paper or canvas. Think of color as being a graph with bars that go up and down indicating what is darker or lighter in that area depending on how much of the bar is filled. With Photoshop’s color palette, you can quickly copy and paste selections from one area to another—even to another image—to melt together the colors you want in a specific place.

Photoshop programs can be a bit intimidating, yet I have found them to be the most useful of any software I have used in my life.
