With the inclusion of cloud, online image editing and review, and GPU-accelerated interface, I am quickly reaching the point where Photoshop lags a little behind Lightroom. Granted, Lightroom is still a powerful image-editing tool, but the improvements in editing speed are significant. As Lightroom is now available for free, along with the Chronocam app, the shootout between these two programs comes down once more to which one people have been using for longer. It’s hard to quantify the difference in favor of either Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom, but in my experience, Lightroom is a little cleaner and faster. I am sure that this will change when the pathfinding tools are added to Lightroom, since those tools will enable more complex operations. PSianists may also have an easier time with Lightroom, since it is a bit easier to manipulate an RGB image if your editing needs lie in that colour space.

The lack of pathfinding is one of the biggest shortcomings of Lightroom. Every other aspect of Lightroom can be used on the iPad, and even though I prefer to work in Photoshop at home, you can still network drive your images. However, file manipulation in Photoshop is simply more efficient. I am sure that hopefully the Paths engine will fix that problem in a future update. In addition, I cannot see how adding a second editing and reviewing app will benefit photographers. If they need to work in both Photoshop and Lightroom simultaneously, that is their problem, not something Photoshop needs to address. I realize that this is just fear mongering of sorts, but the pathfinding tools are definitely a big decision to make right now.
