Specifically, I’d say this: Photoshop is a “must buy” for any professional photographer. It’s been my workhorse editing software for nearly a decade. I’m happy to see the standalone version updated to reflect the latest version of Photoshop, and consider upgrading, especially as Lightroom adds new features (of course, I’d need a PSD). “Usability” continued to be a major strength, and so did “rich, powerful, and richly featured.” A good fit for most of my current needs. But I’d still have to go back and use Lightroom sometimes. With the separate purchase, it becomes a no-brainer for me. In some ways, I like Photoshop even better than Lightroom now (though Lightroom wins on a few points). Fortunately now I don’t even have to think about it. 🙂 I hope they will release future updates to Photoshop that will make it a standalone tool even richer than before.
