* Photoshop Elements
This program is Adobe’s entry-level photography and graphics editor. The primary differences are that you can’t change the number of layers in a document, and you can’t create a merge layer.
Creative Suite
Adobe’s Creative Suite is a collection of more than a dozen software programs that enables you to create and modify raster and vector images and to produce content for a variety of platforms.
Many people mistakenly assume that all of these programs work together to allow them to design and manipulate a single file. While that is true for some of the programs, it’s not true for all of them. For example, while you can use Photoshop and Elements to create a layered file with an image that you plan to apply a mask, these programs are not designed to do this. The advantage of such a capability is that you can add layers to an image in one tool, apply a mask to them in a different tool, and then save all the layers as a single file.
The three programs that you must purchase as part of a Creative Suite are Photoshop, InDesign (see Chapter 9), and Bridge (for importing and handling images). In addition, you need InCopy, which is used to create brochures, Web pages, and other content. You don’t need InCopy for editing images.
Adobe provides a number of other software applications for graphics professionals. For example, you can use Photoshop to convert from one resolution to another; you can add special effects to images using Photoshop and then export the file to another program that doesn’t include Photoshop’s limited features; and you can use a brand-new tool called SpeedGrade HD to make images look more like the print. ## Starting in the Dark with RAW Photography
If you are using a digital camera to shoot your images, you may prefer to capture the data in the camera in the raw format. With the raw format, the camera retains all the data from the photo without any adjustments. You can then open the file in Photoshop and perform any of the image editing steps that I describe in this chapter. The advantage is that the data in the image is in a format known as _nonstandard_, which is a large file format, and standard, which is a much smaller file.

5. 4 Key Features of Photoshop Elements
1. Real Time Adjustments
The first feature of Photoshop Elements is real-time adjustments. These are important for editing RAW images and also adjustments made using layer masks.

Layer masks are created using either the Create a Layer Mask option at the bottom of the Layers palette or using the Edit > Create Layer Mask menu options.

Layer masks can also be used to help manage order of operations when working with multiple layers. For example, if you want to change the image, you can click on a layer mask. This will open a window with the initial state of the layer and a background image of the previous image. You can then adjust the layer as you wish without affecting the other layers.

The Edit > Fill Layer menu is used to add a color or image fill to a layer. Alternatively, you can use the menu option:

The second feature of Photoshop Elements is the ability to arrange layers in groups, image and text layers, or both. You can also edit image and text layers individually and group them together into a master image.

Vincent Meany
Vincent “Buck” Meany, Jr. (February 16, 1915 – September 22, 1988) was an American college basketball and college football coach. He served as the head football coach at Shippensburg University in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania from 1952 to 1954, the University of Tulsa from 1955 to 1958, Bowling Green University from 1961 to 1963, Arizona State University from 1964 to 1966, and at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina from 1968 to 1970. In addition, he was the head basketball coach at the University of Notre Dame from 1958 to 1962.
Buck Meany was named the head football coach at Shippensburg University in 1952 after six seasons as the school’s athletic director. He compiled a record of 18–18. In 1955, he accepted the head coaching job at Tulsa after previously serving as the school’s athletic director. At Tulsa, he compiled a record of 46–55–7. After a season at Bowling Green, he returned to Tulsa as athletic director and head coach of the basketball team. He compiled a record of 72–61 at Tulsa.
In 1961, Meany accepted the head coaching job at Arizona State University. He spent four seasons at Arizona State before resigning to become the athletic director at Catawba College. Meany then coached in two seasons at Catawba.
In 1966, he returned to Arizona State for a third stint as the school’s athletic director and head coach of the football team. He compiled a record of 9–10–1. In 1967, he accepted the head coaching job at Notre Dame. He coached only two years at Notre Dame, compiling a record of 12–15–1.

Dalecarlian
Dalecarlian (,, ), commonly known as Dalašian in West Dalecarlia, is an autonomous province of Sweden located in the north-western part of the country. It lies between the southern parts of Svealand, Norrland, and the Norwegian border, and the countries of Finland, Norway and Russia.
Its capital is the city of Tornio, which is also the capital of Finland’s province of Lapland (Kanada) and of the county of Kainuu.
History
The province was formed in 1900 with the split-up of the Diocese of Dalecarlia. The area was separated from Västerbotten and Västernorrland counties. The new province was named Dalecarlia after count Ernst Frederick of Dalén. The southern areas of the Diocese of Västerbotten, including the main cities of Nivala and Jokkmokk were to remain with the Diocese of Västerbotten.
Geography
The island of Saaremaa in the Baltic Sea belongs to this province, though most of the islands of the archipelago are part of Estonia.
The province is therefore considered as part of the northern Scandinavian region. It is bordered by Norway to the north, Finland to the east and west, and Russia to the southeast. It is home to Tornio, a city that belongs to the County of Kymmenegård in Finland, and the municipalities of Tornio, Kankaanpää, Karelia and Haukipudas (Hämeenlinna).
The present-day province of Lapland was formed in 1809, while the provinces of Mora and Dalsland in Finland were split into sub-provinces of the same name.
The provincial council has 13 members, including the chairperson. The last election was held on 12 September 2019, when the Social Democratic Party received the most votes with 39 out of a total of 64 seats, followed by the Centre Party (18) and the Green Party (7).
