# PSD
Photoshop _.psd_ files are versioned, additive image files, but it’s a common misconception that PSD files are simply images without layers. On the contrary, they are extremely powerful.
All Photoshop images are stored as a single file under one folder. However, the file is actually a compiled structure that contains multiple image layers that can be dragged, cut, or pasted and moved.
Photoshop creates one. _psd_ file for a single image when importing. Multiple. _psd_ files are created when editing an image. When you export a file, Photoshop will open a single file to edit.
# Photoshop Layer Files (.psd)
Each. _psd_ file contains a folder hierarchy and multiple image layers that store the image’s color and line art. Layers are used to place images on top of one another and add effects that include masking. Figure 1-4 shows an example of a Photoshop image with five layers.

The bottom layer is usually called the Background or Image layer and is used for colors and textures. The upper layers are usually called Layers, with the first layer being the first layer and the fifth layer being the last. The next four are referred to as “fragment” or “masked” layers. Each layer is assigned a _transparent_ state. When you layer files, the layers are saved in a continuous and additive way.
Multiple. _psd_ files can be opened and edited at the same time. If you were to open multiple files in the same Photoshop document, you would simply go to Layers in the File menu and choose the file you want to open. The layers are additive, so the earlier layers will appear beneath the later ones. If you were to close all but one layer, the image would be completely flattened and not layered like it was when you first opened it.
Photoshop allows you to remove or duplicate layers and completely erase them. This is done by selecting the

Create a New Document in Photoshop Elements
Use the Canvas Size tool to set the image canvas to 800×600px.
To create a new document for your image, double click or press Enter.
For next steps, choose the Format tab and then click on the canvas in the toolbar.
Use the Horizontal and Vertical guidelines to control the aspect ratio.
Next, click inside the canvas and a new empty document will open.
The same tips apply for creating a new document from the New command in Photoshop Elements.
To view the document, click on the View tab.
Click on the Zoom tool to control how large or small the image will be.
Or you can use the Magnifier tool to enlarge the image.
Use the Zoom tool to focus on the right area of the image.
Add Layers
There are three main ways to create layers in Photoshop Elements:
Add a New Layer
Click on the New Layer icon on the Layers panel.
In the menu that opens, select the appropriate layer for your image: Background, Foreground or a New Layer.
Double click on the layer to name it.
Open an Existing Document in Photoshop Elements
Select the existing document.
Click on the right side of the arrow icon. This will open the menu with the following options: Open as New, Merge Down, Duplicate or Duplicate Vertically. Choose one of the options depending on the image, the function you want and the resolution.
Clone a Layer
Open your document and click on the layer you want to clone.
A menu will open with three options: Copy, Create Clipping Mask or Duplicate.
Or duplicate the Layer by selecting the layer and clicking on the left side of the arrow icon.
Add Effects to a Layer
Use the Tools tab to apply effect on the selected layer.
Use the Filter… button to change the settings of the selected layer.
Next, you can add a color or a photo effect, adjust the settings or get creative.

Blind pigmented guinea pigs, Cavia porcellus, have a melanin deficiency due to the presence of a unique melanosomal enzyme inhibitor.
Blind pigmented guinea pigs (Cavia porcellus) are a model for human ocular disease. A major morphologic change, termed “corneal leukoma,” appears to be associated with certain inherited mutations, similar to those in human retinitis pigmentosa (RP). In one form of corneal leukoma, there is a complete absence of pigment in the cornea (n = 2,185, mean age = 1 year, MZ = Cpb; MM = Hpb). Although there is no melanin in their eyes, these animals have the same amount of total skin melanin, but less than normal. The cause of this leukoma is due to deficiency of one or more enzymes involved in melanin synthesis. Genetic analysis of the Cpb (Blind pigmented Guinea pig) indicates the presence of an autosomal recessive trait. The deficiency of melanosomal enzymes does not interfere with the synthesis of other pigments, such as heme and lipopigments. These findings, together with the morphologic changes described in other forms of Cpb, suggest that the same molecular mechanism causing the disease in humans may be involved in the formation of the corneal leukoma in Cpb. The autosomal recessive transmission of this disease in Cpb correlates well with the autosomal recessive inheritance of retinal disease in human RP. These findings suggest that Cpb may serve as an animal model for human RP, and that RP is a family of disorders in which a single mode of inheritance may result in several clinical and pathologic entities.

Introduction {#sec1-1}

Amyloid is an abnormal protein which was first discovered in 1907 by W.Bedot as an insoluble material in the amyloid congo red stained tissue. The term amyloid was coined by F.Karl Kisch as an insoluble, non-bireactive substance which stains violet or apple green in tissue sections by the bireactive dye, congo red. Although the source of amyloid has been the subject of intense controversy, there is no doubt that the precursor of this insoluble amyloid is a normal protein of about 5,000 daltons. The nature of amyloid is such that it forms either a perfectly insoluble polymer or a tightly cross-beta helical fiber. By its insolubility and its strong affinity for dyes, amyloid can be differentiated from non-amyloid structures such as collagen. Amyloidosis is a disorder in which amyloid substance is deposited in various tissues and organs of the body.
Classification of amyloid is divided into six types: systemic, local, familial, immunoglobulin light chain (AL), familial Dutch type (AA), and senile.\[[@ref1][@ref2]\] Localized amyloidosis is a heterogeneous group of diseases with a wide range of clinical presentations. The clinical spectrum includes scleroderma, cutaneous amyloidosis, primary myeloma cutis, local amyloidosis, and amyloid maculopathy. We report a rare case of a 72-year-old male patient with advanced amyloidosis causing macular degeneration.
Case Report {#sec1-2}

A 72-year-old male patient presented to our out-patient department with complaints of progressive vision loss and blurring of vision in both eyes since a month. He also reported a history of a painful to touch, nodular skin lesions over the forearms and legs since the last 5 years. The patient had been diagnosed to have type II diabetes mellitus 2 years back.
On presentation the best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 20/60 in both eyes. Intraocular pressure was 12 mm Hg in both eyes. Slit-lamp examination of the anterior segment revealed grade II nuclear sclerosis and mild posterior synechiae in both eyes. The posterior vitreous was clear. Fundus
