While RAW support is new, there’s still no support for RAW capture in some situations. I’m considering returning the camera for a variation that supports it. In addition, the camera is not RAW-only – it supports JPG capture in addition to RAW, so you lose a full stop of compression. The auto white balance is a bit too aggressive. The X-Trans color looks way too blue and the sky is even more pinkish-red than in the last version. I’d suggest checking the results on images from plenty of different lighting conditions to see if the camera performs better for you. Also, the image stabilization option is disabled when shooting in RAW, so it’s not worth noticing if you don’t have an X-Pro 2. Again, the results are very acceptable. The only issue I see is that there is no way to customize that special effect on the lens hood (seen in the attached image).

You can also use it to create a grid over your picture and use guides to help you align things perfectly or create complex patterns and layers of color.

What It Does: The Burn and Dodge tools are used to lighten or darken shadows and highlights in an image. As with the burn tool, you move the slider and the tool uniformly changes the value of the highlighted area.

The Magic Wand tool is ideal for selecting large areas of image quickly while maintaining the highest accuracy. It’s also a great tool for selecting areas of certain colors or the grays closest to a color to select an area, even if you don’t have the colors saved in your Color Picker window.

For me, and many others, the biggest feature in Photoshop is the 5K resolution workflow – or should I say the resampling workflow . Just a few years ago, non-neon-drenched photo editing was done at 12,800 pixels, but now you have options to upsample 16K, 8K and even 5K content to a crazy-high display resolution.

Like it did with the addition of Linked Smart Objects in the latest major update to Photoshop, Adobe also adds some nice features to the link between its various Creative Cloud desktop tools. While Adobe does a terrific job of updating its products via monthly patches and minor features, there are still a number of features that I’d like to see added to Photoshop or Elements. One of them is the ability to apply a final, overall filter to an image. Photoshop currently has adjustments but not the overall look you can get from most photo editors.

I’d also like to see the ability to set a default colour profile in the application. While this isn’t a major issue right now, in the future you’ll have to use default options if you want the same colours on your images when you open them from different programs. In addition, I find it frustrating that Photoshop lets you use a custom colour profile but then it resets that profile when you export the image.

The other major issue to me is the need for a lot of plugins. I don’t think most users want a complete solution for image editing. I’m often choosing to use Photoshop Elements for things like cropping, resizing, straightening, producing export and other common tasks.
