Ultimately, Rainbow Six is a solid shooter that feels like the kind of game you’d want to play with friends. like rainbow six vegas, the ballistics of the game can be switched to burst fire at any time. unlike vegas, however, the burst fire is not broken into individual “shots” but rather into small fireballs. while this imparts an impressive ballistic advantage when up against a good marksman, it can be somewhat confusing when trying to aim down the sights.
the enemy ai in athena sword is improved considerably from the original rainbow six, but not so much that they are any more intelligent than they were in vegas. the ai will often make use of cover and will try to use it’s weapon as a distraction while taking the player out. the one major downside to the ai is that they sometimes act strangely, like fleeing from their objective or even running in the opposite direction. luckily, the game doesn’t take too long to get the ai on your side. they’re also prone to getting careless and standing in front of a door while you’re trying to blow it open.
