Members of the Vermont State Senate

The Vermont State Senate is the upper house of the Vermont General Assembly. With two members from each of the state’s seven divisions, the upper house has a total of 32 members. The members of the Vermont State Senate are elected to two-year terms. In Vermont, Senate elections are non-partisan. The President of the Senate is the highest-ranking member of the Senate, and in the absence of the president, the longest-serving member becomes acting president. The other 31 members of the Senate are known as “members”.

The Chief Clerk of the Vermont Senate is the person who provides the staff and administrative support for the senate and its committees, generally under the direction of the President or Vice President. The House Clerk, the House Sergeant-at-Arms, and the House Secretary are also under the chief clerk’s authority.

The Senate is responsible for organizing and conducting the business of the legislative session, and it is responsible for the affairs of the State Senate, the Vermont Senate Rules Committee, and the Senate Commission on Retirement.

is that what you think of when you hear the word “hookup”? Why is hooking up so popular, and what are the dangers of casual sex? And what should you do if you’re not as sexually experienced as your friends?
To understand why casual sex could be bad for you, we must first understand how the body works. “Human sexuality requires a healthy brain, a healthy body, and a willingness to have sex,” says sex therapist Ruth Arendt, M.D. And a healthy body could mean having a healthy heart and a healthy brain. Both can end up afflicted when you choose casual sex as your standard. But sex doesn’t have to be the hookup capital of the world to feel guiltier about it.
The reason that a lot of people feel bad about casual sex is because they are disempowered sexually. As Arendt explains, “There’s a gap between the physical reality and our social reality. And that makes us feel ashamed of the act itself.”
Women as well as men are able to experience sexual pleasure with casual sex, but that doesn’t mean it’s always good. “I talk about sexual pleasure in terms of highs, and the lows of a hookup,” says Arendt. The sexual high of casual sex often comes in the form of a dry orgasm that doesn’t trigger the release of oxytocin. And the “lows” are often in the form of feeling pressured to have sex, getting STDs, and the ever-present risk of birth control.
The pressure comes from all sorts of places. For starters, casual sex usually means leaving the norms of respectability, sometimes in more ways than one. Sometimes, the word on the street might be, “Grab a napkin and spit so I can finish.” Or, “I gotta go; I’m missing the last bus, be a gentleman and have sex with me.”
That said, casual sex also means giving yourself permission to get freaky and enjoy some new experiences. “I don’t know if you’ve heard this expression, but there is this thing called honesty in sex,” says sex therapist and pleasure researcher Rachel Emma Mortensen. “But we haven’t come anywhere close to communicating that to women and men.”
In a recent study published in the Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy, Mortensen and her colleagues polled men and women about the honesty of hookup sex. The results? 82 percent of men and 43 percent of women believe hookups to be honest. But
