the above computer has a usb-2 port, and another port in its back for an esata connection. im using it as the audio interface for a portable sacd player. i have a zenith/sony dg-15 mute solo portable player, and im booting it with my macbook pro via usb-2. so far, ive been very happy with this combo. its a great player, and im a little surprised that it hasnt had more exposure.

anyway, as i have mentioned, ive been ripping sacds at about 50 or 60 per day. i had all my hard drives filled up and in need of replacement, so i contacted amazon to get a couple of their new (and expensive) 8 tb hard drives. i set the nas to copy some of the sacd files to the new drives (in one-file-per-folder-per-cd fashion), and in the process, the nas decided to format the new hard drives. it didnt complain about the size of the new drives (2 of the 8 tb 16 gb drives were similar in size to my nass current 500 gb drives), and instead, simply saw them as empty hard drives and didnt copy any sacd rips to them. it only took about 3-4 hours to copy the existing files from the nass 500 gb drives to the new drives, but i dont know that i could have gotten the nas to copy any more files to the new drives given the size of those drives and the volume of sacds i need to rip.

thank you very much. i am a 30 year old, professional audio engineer, and i have a major addiction to listening to sacd music. it took me years to get to a point that i began ripping sacds, and now i dont have to worry about it at all. i have literally spent several hundred dollars ripping sacds, and i decided to put some of the ripped files on a nas system. i have ripped about 400 tracks so far, and i can now stream the ripped sacds with ease from anywhere in my house. so even though my internet connection is slow, i dont have to worry about not being able to get to the music i want to listen to. thank you very much for this help. a fellow audio pro would be grateful as well.

bought a used bx520. worked well for awhile, but isnt working too well anymore (after a power failure), and there is no remote. the codes for the bx520s av output are the same as a bx510. i need to see how my used one will work.
hi, thanks for this. i have a 2012 sacd of “ghostbusters” (as it says on the front) and im wondering if i should use the player settings from last year’s model, which had many of the same instructions. except it was a bx520, which is a newer model.
i currently have three sacd players that i converted with this software. i also have a fresh copy for the first run. i ripped 5 of them last friday when i first got the software, and they all ripped fine (with a little tweaking, and it might have been as simple as outputting some of the files to ogg, and re-ripping). i was really surprised at how well they did, and i put the time to do them (to test the process). 2 ripped flawlessly last night, and 1 was close. they were all ripped using the default settings on the bx520, the 60 minute portions of a 3 hour album, but i set all the settings in the advanced panel to match the bx520.
the process is relatively straightforward. 1) load the disc into the sacd player, if you have more than one, and set it to the auto setting. 2) press the play button on the remote, and eventually, the flashing triangle will start to cycle through, and youll be able to hear it play the disc. 3) when you hear the last disc track, press the stop button on the remote, and the next disc will load into the machine. eventually, all 400 discs will be loaded. 4) be sure to turn the dsd output mode to on when the discs are playing, and make sure to have your remote control in reach, because your finger will do the majority of the work during this process.
