the invasion: in this hack, the player is required to travel to the mushroom kingdom of the past, and stop the invasion in all its forms. the development of this hack was dropped half-way through, as the author decided to start developing the game known as super mario bros. x.

smbx features a campaign mode and a multiplayer mode. the campaign has four different versions: the original super mario bros. x ( smbx version 0.0.0 ) has a single player mode with four different levels, a multiplayer game with either computer-controlled or computer-assisted players where one player controls mario and the other one controls either luigi or princess peach ( smbx version 0.0 multiplayer ) features two to four human players who work together to complete the game and swap player characters during the game. the game engine is always loading a game level, and therefore, there is always only one player, and all others are computer controlled.

super mario bros. x is like a game with a question and answer, and it has multiple endings based on what the player does. it also has a huge cast of characters. the game can also be played at any difficulty setting. if the player has a gamepad, then it automatically goes into controller mode. if the player is using a keyboard, then it will remain on the keyboard. it supports both analog and digital controllers. the game also supports nearly any type of key-stroke method, such as the keyboard combination code for mario, or using a gamecube controller to control the game via the gamecube’s z, x, and y buttons. super mario bros. x also features a sonic-style challenge mode that challenges the player in a time trial to complete the game. the challenge maps are assigned to four different world types: ‘fix’, ‘trial’, ‘hard’, ‘impossible’.

super mario bros. x features a large variety of items, enemy types and obstacles. there are 23 different enemy types, and each type has its own unique ai. each enemy type has its own attributes, such as projectile speeds, jumping speeds, ability to fall, amount of hp, amount of damage taken, amount of damage caused, etc. the game also features a large variety of obstacles, such as enemies, blocks, spikes, spikes that ‘fall’ when hit, poi..
