the director surely could not have avoided displaying this political element in his movie. but who played the role as a male tamil tiger as any other than arvind swamy? and the role of the mother, though played by a female actor like nandita das, should have gone to kajal aggarwal whose role as soori in mani ratnam’s roja is already worn out and has been utilised in many blockbusters.
the rest of the story moves in a predictable path with a predictable end, just like most tamil movies. the story also had a twist but it was not all that interesting. the tag line of the movie would be naadama patti, udanea podi, ku vari na raavu, urathu tamizh!
but if the viewers were not duped, they would have seen that the movie is just another politically correct virudhaari movie from the man from the man who gave us cheekay thambi, oruvan.

he was pre-warned. he was not caught by surprise. his lungs are clear. his eyes have the sense to adjust. the whole event is being recorded on camera. the spectators at the cricket ground in pallepeta are there to witness the demolition of the pavilion. the match is being telecast live on television. all he has to do is finish up with the rest of the mayhem and go away. but the medical student does not wish to go away. why? because the hurt is not finished. the vandalism has not yet come to an end. sitting patiently in one corner of the pavilion he watches the goons smashing the front glass wall. to hell with the rest! he begins to run towards it. he tears off the broken glass. then he enters the pavilion.

what is interesting is that the maximum punishment for such a crime is only a fine. it is almost always a case of civil defamation. however there are certain exceptions. they may be political, legal or disciplinary in nature. when such cases come into the public domain, the accused is quickly condemned and arrested. when the same happens the next time it is treated as though it is part of the same incidence. if the same is repeated, the court sentences the accused and he goes to jail, to be freed if he performs certain acts. in the present case, once the police had said that it was an isolated incident, they were released. the only way to unseat them was to have them arrested again. which they did.
