The MiniHost software is written in C#, it provides a compact, low footprint solution and is 100% ASIO driver-free. It supports the following file formats: WAVE, MP3, WAV, FLAC, AMR, MP2, MP4, OGG, AAC, APE, and CAF.
Plugins are written in C# or Visual Basic and take advantage of the MiniHost’s powerful ASIO interface. Audio plugins will be downloaded as DLLs and loaded into the MiniHost’s ASIO audio driver when they are first loaded.
Plugins can use any of the following C# / Visual Basic object types:
System.Sound.Wave
System.Drawing.Bitmap
System.Drawing.Image
System.Drawing.Bitmap(2D)
System.Drawing.Image(2D)
System.Collections.Generic.List(Of Object)
System.Linq.Queryable
Developers can write plugins for the MiniHost using any of the following languages: C#, Visual Basic, and JavaScript.
The MiniHost API is intended to be compatible with the.NET API and compatible with the Windows API. This means that plugins written in Visual Basic and C# should be compatible with those written in C++ or VB6.
The MiniHost API supports:
– Free Realtime Audio with its many features
– Plugins
– Loading of DLLs
– Native Windows controls like message boxes, progress bars, buttons, etc.
– The IDirectSound interface
– The User32 interface
In addition, the application supports an integrated task manager, and a built-in debugger. The MiniHost API includes a list of tools to help developers automate their work, including:
– A powerful compiler for real-time plugins
– An automated build process for plugins
– A debugger
– A task manager
Plugins should be tested in the application before release for compatibility with the application. Plugins written in VB6 or C++ will need to be tested against an application that has the same version of the Windows API as VB6 and C++.
A plug-in example of a MIDI-Only plugin is included in the examples folder of the MiniHost software.
The MiniHost software requires a license. It can be purchased from the company’s website.
