the bolts are all on natural pro, with the occasional metal box. very few traditional anchors are present but the rock is so clean, any sort of protection will suffice. we climb up this big section and then head up the roof. all of the cruxes of the climb are sustained. the crack system that leads you to the roof crack is incredible. i fell off my first try on a really steep corner, which was a little scary. but i learnt a lot about crag climbing in the process. in the summer, the routes look absolutely ridiculous, and what with the huge crowd of skiers, youll need a very good topo. but if youre super confident and your weather is good, get a fix on the approach and go for it. the views are incredible, and if youre lucky enough to be on a good day, you can enjoy the sun shining on the snow. it was the most amazing thing i ever did!

ave caesar is the most cruisy of the three routes that ive climbed. the crack lines vary in difficulty from trad to very technical. whilst the ‘topo’ refers to the french topos, it doesnt mean that youll need any topo for the climb. the french team climbed the routes in springtime. most of the crag is in the shade, but some shady sections have the sun to themselves. the climb can be climbed in one go, although with the time constraints it might take two or three trips.

i climbed the face on my own in may 2018 with my friend scott williams. we had a good time climbing the routes and enjoyed the views. the approach is a bit of an adventure. it starts on the left with snow that is up to our calves. we had a good time climbing up the first bit, but the snow had become a bit soft and we felt its time to get the hell out. on our way down, we had a short section of snow that was really soft, and that was the first time that i felt a little unsure about climbing. i went straight up to the crack, figuring i could place one or two pro on the way. i had a lot of fun climbing the cracks and enjoyed the experience. the last bit is a little easier.

the last route in the envers is vertige de quatre. it is one of the most exciting and interesting routes in the whole of europe. it is located just to the right of the cable car. the route is a crack system up a vertical face. it is quite bulgy but the climbing is sublime. it is first climbed by steven mclaughlin in 2011. it hasn’t been climbed since, but there are rumours that it is now grade 8. i have climbed it twice and it is grade 8 on some sections. the crux is on pitch 3 and is a wonderful, bold crack. it has now been freed.
i was having a trail, using a run activity, and suddenly got lost in the woods, so i asked my watch for a computation using a waypoint very close to me. the track computed was only road (bitume) and not trail road while they actually exists and where on my map (with the necessary zoom). would the computation engine / track it behave differently with another activity type (let say if i used trail or mtb) would it behave differently with another primary map (let say another osm variant or the garmin topo) when having multiple routable maps installed, which one is / are used i try to use different map for each activity type. i try to use the osm variant map for activities done on the road or the trail. i try to use the topo maps for activities done on the mountain. i use the fenix 5 plus for each activity. i think that the computation engine of the garmin topo map is not routable, it is only road (bitume) only. it is supposed to be used for planning a road or mountain bike trip (it is not used in a trail). the computation engine of the topo map is routable in any case. therefore i think it is the other one which is used for planing an activity like running or hiking. my fenix 5 has two routable maps (topo and the osm map) installed. i think that the computation engine of the topo map is routable in any case. i try to use the osm variant map for activities done on the road or the trail. i think that the computation engine of the topo map is routable in any case.
