when i first started using this program it didnt have a way to scan to see if the new drivers were working. it automatically selected the latest drivers to use. even though i couldnt use it. now it has a red exclamation point beside it. i dont know if i can use it now. i will post here if it starts working or not.
thanks for the help. so i uninstalled the printer, and downloaded the driver again and it installed it. i ran the setup and it installed all the drivers and everything. i tried the printer again and it worked, prints out a ton. the issue is, i was trying to install the drivers on a differant computer, the one that was working. i tried to print a test page and it printed out fine, but nothing else. so it worked, but didn’t work. i uninstalled and deleted the printer from the computer and reinstalled it. same thing happened. i tried again, no luck, and the setup didn’t work. so i uninstalled it and re-installed it. same issue, but this time it worked.
2) extract the contents of the zip file with 7zip. the directory structure in the zip file should be the same as the device manager. now in the directory you extracted, look for a.inf file. this is the driver. if you can’t find it, search for.pif files. this is the file that contains the information about the printer’s hardware.
5) test the printer. connect the parallel cable. open the printer and test if the printer is working. if it’s not working, repeat step 4. if it is working, close the printer. if the printer is not working, then repeat step 2.
the printer driver is installed. go to start > settings > printers > add printer, and click next. choose the appropriate port, complete the setup as needed, then click next. you should see the printer in the list of available printers.
