Thunder 7 is a software-defined distributed storage cloud service jointly developed by Xunlei and Tencent. The joint development of the Tencent Blockchain Cloud Service utilizes the distributed storage mechanism and protocol of Xunlei Thunder 7 to allow users to store, distribute, and transact with digital data, significantly reducing the cost of data storage and management. Specifically, the Tencent Blockchain Cloud Service has the advantages of not only being able to resolve the problems of centralized data storage and management, but also being able to process big data tasks such as verifying databases, data storage, and data distribution on a large scale, with a simple low-cost and flexible distributed environment. Combined with Tencents cloud platform, the users can leverage the benefits of a single, large-scale distributed data and storage cloud environment without the need to manage servers on their own or form their own data centers.

In 2011, the company released the Thunder Mini Server that was specifically designed for home and small business users. In the same year, the B2C trade channel department began to develop Thunder 4 to allow clients to seek computing capacity in a more convenient manner. In 2012, Xunlei released Thunder Deluxe and Thunder Day Dream. In 2013, the company released Thunder 7, its first real-time communication and information platform. In 2014, the company released Thunder Ultimate and Thunder Cloud Box. In 2015, the company released Thunder Brain, Thunder Child, Thunder Spring, Thunder 7 Cloud Box, and Thunder Mini Server 2. Xunlei released Thunder 7 Day Dream and Thunder Ultimate in 2016. Xunlei continued to release new versions of Thunder 7 in 2017 to 2019. Recently, Xunlei released Thunder 4 2019 and Thunder Mini Server 3 2019. Both the products add multicast and HTTP/2 support.
